Vienna lies in the lower regions of Austria, a place dotted with exotic lush valleys and vineyards! But then there is a lot more to this quaint yet cosmopolitan Austrian city. There are plenty of historical and architectural landmarks that pique tourist interest. In fact it is hard to zero in on the best attractions.
Most of Vienna’s tourist attractions are located in three specific areas: the Schönbrunn Palace region, the Hofburg Palace area and the museum Quarter that is famous for the large number of museums.
We bring you 3 top attractions that you mustn’t miss when sightseeing in Austria, i.e in Vienna.
Schönbrunn Palace
The humongous royal residence was the summer imperial home at one point of time. The name Schönbrunn literally translates to – ‘beautiful spring’. It was originally designed to be a royal game reserve by the Holy Emperor Maximillian II. It was more like a summer recreation center for royal parsonages. The palace and grounds were converted into a museum in 1918 once the rule of monarchy came to an end.
Hofburg Palace
This imperial residence was home to several generations of the Hapsburg royalty and those who ruled the Austrio-Hungarian empire. The Imperial Chapel, Library and museums are worth visiting.
